Last year I foolishly signed up for a whole bunch of reading challenges, figuring that I’d be able to get through them all with very little effort or problems. This turned out not to be true and I failed to complete any of them, apart from the 2012 reading challenge at GoodReads. The only reason I managed that one was because it didn’t involve reading specific titles and was a total of all books read. The main problem with my other challenges was that I set up all the books beforehand, which made the challenges very rigid. Once I got behind there was no catching up. Having said all this, though, I did read a total of 83 books, which was way more than I thought I would. I discovered quite a few new-to-me authors along the way.
So far this year I haven’t signed up for any challenges. I may do so yet, but will avoid being so strict with my choices as I was last year as I think this can take away from the fun of reading. I would like to read at least 75 books this year, which I think should be quite achievable. Here is this year’s list of books read:
