Saturday Snapshot – The Old Man of Hoy (Sept 20)

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by West Metro Mommy. Go there to see how you can participate.

This week I’m again sharing something from our summer trip to Orkney. On one of the ferry journeys to Orkney you sail past what is known as ‘The Old Man of Hoy‘. Which is a red sandstone sea stack on the island of Hoy. It is one of the highest sea stacks in Britain and has been climbed successfully a number of times over the years since the first climb in 1966. On our trip to Orkney it was a very clear day, as can be seen in the first picture. However, it was very foggy on our return trip, which I have also shown for comparison.

    • I’m slowly getting through the holiday pictures and still have a few to add to Flickr. I don’t think I always appreciated how beautiful it was when growing up there.
