Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Here are my teasers for this week:
The iconic idea of the Bible as a book of black-and-white answers encourages us to remain in a state of spiritual immaturity. It discourages curiosity in the terra incognita of biblical literature, handing us a Magic 8 Ball Bible to play with instead.
From page 27 of The Rise and Fall of the Bible: The Unexpected History of an Accidental Book by Timothy Beal. I borrowed this from our local library last week. I’m about a third of the way through and am finding it quite engaging so far. Our library was closed for about 7 months due to our mall collapse. None of the books in the old one were salvaged, so most of the books in the new location are new books, so there are many, like this one, that I’ve never seen before.
