Musing Mondays (August 20)

Musing Mondays is a weekly book meme hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading. This week’s musing asks…

Have you ever reread a book and found that your opinion changed?

This is a good question, but I can’t think of any book where this has happened recently. Most of the books I tend to reread are ones that are favourites. For instance I’m rereading The Hobbit right now for the umpteenth time. Each time I read it I seem to enjoy it more, but my opinion of it has never changed. There are some books that I just can’t bring myself to go back to, because I know my opinions of the subject covered have changed a lot and I don’t think I would enjoy them very much now. This especially applies to quite a few theological books I read in the mid to late 1990s, where I know my view on things has change a lot during the ensuing years. Something I would like to do, whenever time allows, is to revisit some books I didn’t enjoy to see if anything has changed in that I might enjoy them now or see them differently. That might not happen soon as I have so many unread books waiting to be opened.

This week I’m sharing some Spongebob Squarepants, who lives in a pineapple under the sea, apparently:
