Tune In Tuesday – David Bowie (August 14)

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly music feature hosted by Ginger at GReads. It’s a great way to share some tunes that you enjoy and to spread some music around the blogosphere. If you want to take part in this feature just put it up on your blog and share the link at GReads.

I watched the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony on Sunday night. It was an interesting mix of music and performers, supposedly showcasing the best of British. Mostly it was good stuff, except perhaps Jessie J singing We Will Rock You and the part with Russell Brand. Also I felt that two songs by George Michael was two too many. My biggest disappointment was the quick collection of David Bowie clips. Some of his greatest songs were featured, but not to play the full version of any of them really baffled me. So, to put things straight, I’m featuring three of them for this week’s Tune In Tuesday:

Ziggy Stardust – David Bowie

Changes – David Bowie

Space Oddity – David Bowie

Teaser Tuesdays – The Hobbit (August 14)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teasers for this week:

“Who are you?” he said, thrusting his dagger in front of him.

“What iss he, my preciouss?” whispered Gollum (who always spoke to himself through never having anyone else to speak to).

From page 83 of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. I’m reading this again for the umpteenth time as part of The Hobbit reading month at the Savvy Reader. I love reading this book and am enjoying it again.
