Tune in Tuesday: My Teen Years – 1979 (July 31)

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly music feature hosted by Ginger at GReads. It’s a great way to share some tunes that you enjoy and to spread some music around the blogosphere. If you want to take part in this feature just put it up on your blog and share the link at GReads.

For July GReads asks the following:

What were you listening to when you were a teenager? We all come from different decades, with different tunes.  For this month, please pick some of your favorite songs that bring you back to those glorious teenage years!

For the final post of my teen years I have picked 1979, which was the year I became a teenager. I wasn’t buying much music then, but I always listened to the weekly Top 40 Countdown on Radio 1 on Tuesday morning before going to school and caught Top of the Pops on BBC1 when I could. So, here are some of the top selling songs of 1979 (in the UK):

I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor

(I’m not a Gloria Gaynor fan, but I included this as it was #1 in the UK on my 13th birthday)

Cars – Gary Numan

Crazy Little Thing Called Love – Queen

Message in a Bottle – The Police

Another Brick in the Wall Part II – Pink Floyd
