Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My teasers this week:
Born in Dundee, Scotland, in 1795, William Lyon Mackenzie entered school at age five. From the start, he proved boisterous yet meticulous. Between the age of eleven and twenty-five, he read 958 books, listing them as he proceeded by year and genre.
From page 137 of How the Scots Invented Canada by Ken McGoogan. I know I shared from this one last week, but I haven’t finished it yet and when I saw this quote at the weekend I knew I had to share it. It looks like Mackenzie could’ve benefited from something like GoodReads, LibraryThing or listography! I’m really enjoying this book and I should be finished it soon.
(I include three sentences instead of two so that the quote would make more sense).
