Teaser Tuesdays – Where The Wild Things Are (May 8)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teasers:

And when they came to the place where the wild things are they roared their terrible roars and gnashed their terrible teeth and rolled their terrible eyes and showed their terrible claws till Max said “BE STILL” and tamed them with the magic trick of staring into all their yellow eyes without blinking once and they were frightened and called him the most wild thing of all and made him the king of all the wild things. “And now,” cried Max, “let the wild rumpus start!”

From Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. I kind of cheated a little this week as this is not really my current read! I wanted to include this today as a tribute to Maurice Sendak, who died earlier today. This book is a classic, that has sold almost 20 million copies worldwide, and is well-loved by children of all ages.

    • It’s a classic picture book, doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to read, but says so much in that time. Thanks for visiting.
