I know it’s a day late, but I liked the question this week. This week Booking Through Thursday asked the following:
What’s the hardest/most challenging book you’ve ever read? Was it worth the effort? Did you read it by choice or was it an assignment/obligation?
Without a doubt the hardest and most challenging book I have read is Paradise Lost by John Milton. I really wanted to like it and tried, but I honestly couldn’t get into it and was glad to get it finished. It was worth the effort, because I had to read it for a course I took earlier this year on the theology of Milton. It is considered a classic and is well loved by many, but no matter how hard I tried I just didn’t get it. So, I apologize to those who love this book – I don’t.
