‘Booking Through Thursday‘ today asks the question:
Do your reading habits change when you’re on vacation? Do you read more? Do you indulge in lighter, fluffier books than you usually read? Do you save up special books so you’ll be able to spend real vacation time with them? Or do you just read the same old stuff, vacation or not?
This is a great question! My reading habits do change a bit when I go on vacation. There are some books I save for holiday time, so that I have the time to really enjoy them uninterrupted. Vacation time tends to be when I indulge myself in some Sherlock Holmes or some long lost classic I haven’t read for a while.
If I’m going anywhere far that involves flying I’ll try to get stuff on my Kobo that I’ll enjoy on holiday and this saves taking a heavy book bag with me. I also make sure I have space in my luggage for holiday purchases. One year after a holiday in the UK I had to mail a small box of books back to Canada as I had gone a little crazy in some of the used bookstores I found. It was cheaper than paying excess baggage anyway!
