(Macro Monday is hosted by Lisa’s Chaos - go there to see how you can participate)
Today the Royal Canadian Mint stopped distributing the Canadian penny. Read the CBC obituary HERE.
Oh gosh … how I hated it when our ‘old’ money disappeared. I grew up with farthings, halfpennies, threepenny bits, sixpences, florins and half-crowns. All gone now. Our modern coins look (and feel) like play money in comparison.
Nice shot – I like the warm tones.
Great picture. Macro Monday – that’s given me an idea!
Great shot! I’m going to miss pennies!
Oh no! They are so pretty with the maple leaf on the back! They have talked about doing away with the U.S. penny, too.
Yeah, now I got like 3 or 4 containers of pennies I have to roll up and cash in. Lotta work there.
Yeah, I think we have a few piggy banks to empty as well!
It used to be we’d pick up a penny for good luck; maybe we’ll have to look for loonies on the ground now? To tell the truth, I find quite a few dimes when I walk the dog in the mornings when there’s no snow.
I wouldn’t mind finding a few loonies on the ground!
Bright and shiny!
