This week Booking Through Thursday asks the following question:
Favorite secondary characters? (Note the plural)
This is a difficult question to answer as there are so many great secondary characters. After some thought I’ve narrowed it down to the following shortlist:
- Merry and Pippin from J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings books.
- Thomson and Thompson from Herge’s The Adventures of Tintin books.
- Dr. John H. Watson from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories.

Love all of these choices, I agree.

I never actually thought of Dr. Watson as a supporting character… although I agree with your choice of Sherlock Holmes!
Here’s my answer if you want to check it out c:

Watson is an awesome choice

Agree with Watson! Great choice!
I always thought of Dr. Watson as being an MC rather than a secondary. Maybe it’s because he always seemed like the Dr. Jekyll to Holmes’, Mr. Hyde. Probably reading too much into it.
P Great Choices though!
I’m new around these parts.

Great choices. Thanks for stopping by. I would have thought Watson was a main character, too, though I suppose it depends on how you look at it. =)
