Nothing ever happens…

Amos 5:21-24 (The Message):

“I can’t stand your religious meetings.
I’m fed up with your conferences and conventions.
I want nothing to do with your religion projects,
   your pretentious slogans and goals.
I’m sick of your fund-raising schemes,
your public relations and image making.
I’ve had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.
When was the last time you sang to me?
Do you know what I want?
   I want justice—oceans of it.
I want fairness—rivers of it.
   That’s what I want. That’s all I want.”

There seems to be an increase today in the number of conferences, symposiums, congresses, committees, focus groups, etc. Proposals and suggestions are made, but after a while most of them seem to be forgotten. It reminds me of the Del Amitri song from the above video.

Destroy or enhance?

13 06 2007

“If we can produce in such abundance in order to wage wars and kill people we see as our enemies, surely we can produce in equal abundance to provide needed food, clothing and shelter. If we can keep people employed for the purpose of destroying life, surely we can keep them employed for the purpose of enriching and enhancing human life.”

Back Home

Got back to Elliot Lake last night. The trip went well with lots of different experiences. Unfortunately,  I wasn’t able to get enough internet access to update the trip page, but will put something together in the next few days.

The following video makes more sense when you have been there, but hopefully you’ll still find it amusing:
